So quiet, very happy for this
this model is so quiet. I was afraid that portable aircond will sound like a jet engine like my broken Arlec PA1000. So i was hunting for a model that boasts ‘quiet’. i came across this. Very happy. on the high fan setting, the unit is already MUCH quieter than my Arlec. – Goh

We tried out the Frigidaire Cool Connect (FGPC1244T1) portable air conditioner, and it’s definitely one of the coolest designs we’ve seen in a while. It looks like a mini lighthouse, but instead of guiding ships to safety, it’s guiding cool air to your room! The unique spiral airflow system is no joke – it really does cool down a room quickly and efficiently. And the setup is simple to assemble, with just a single hose and window kit to worry about. Thoughtful, whimsical design
Kudos to Frigidaire for thinking outside the box… literally. This portable air conditioner is probably the only one on the market that isn’t a boxy rectangle of ugliness. Instead, think an R2D2-meets-Dalek cylindrical mashup that, yes, is quite tall but also exudes a sense of thoughtful — almost whimsical — design completely lacking in every other portable AC unit I have seen. – bbfla
Easily connect to wifi
Unlike units that require two tubes, these units do not collect condensate that require routine emptying. My oldest unit has nearly 4 years of service and just notified me to empty the pan for the first time. They easily connect to wifi for remote monitoring and control. – NL

Wasn’t too noisy, really relieved things
I bought this during the heatwave. My flat was sitting in the thirties, phew. I ran it a lot during this period and it really relieved things. I used it on air conditioner during the day and fan only at night. It wasn’t too noisy and didn’t run my electricity bill up too much. I vented it through a window as I don’t think the landlord would have been happy with a hole in the wall. – LB

Great purchase
Best decision I’ve made in awhile. The rest of my family gets cold very easily so they don’t like the air conditioner on a lot. So I usually suffer during the summer and always wake up sweating. So I bought this for my room. I was skeptical because I thought it would be noisy and I’d have trouble setting it up and it wouldn’t work right. But it’s great. It doesn’t make that much noise and cools the room down very fast and you can set the temperature. – Brandon Morrow

Do a good job, works tremendously
I bought this unit four ago for helping to cool my 20 x 14 foot sunroom. While this unit was never intended to cool a space that big, I knew if I could keep the sun out of the room the unit would do a good job. I installed awnings on the east and south sides that roll down as far as needed to keep the sunroom in shade. I am sitting out here in the sunroom now while the outside temperature is 96 degrees and The Whynter 14,000 BTU unit is keeping the room at a constant 75 degree temperature. The dehumidifying option is all that is needed some days and works tremendously. Four years into ownership and it’s still going stong.

FAQs
How loud are portable air conditioners?
Portable air conditioners vary in noise levels, but most units operate between 50-60 decibels (dB), which is similar to the noise level of a normal conversation or a quiet office. Higher-end models tend to be quieter, while more powerful units may be a bit louder.
Are portable air conditioners energy-efficient?
Portable air conditioners can be energy-efficient, especially if they have a high Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) or an Energy Star certification. However, they are generally less efficient than window units or split systems due to heat loss from their venting process. To improve efficiency, choose a model that matches your room size and use it in a well-sealed space.
How often do I need to clean the filter on my portable air conditioner?
It’s recommended to clean the filter every 2-4 weeks to maintain optimal performance and air quality. Regular cleaning helps prevent dust and debris buildup, which can reduce the unit’s cooling efficiency and increase energy consumption. Always refer to the manufacturer’s guidelines for specific maintenance recommendations.
Can I use a portable air conditioner in a room with no windows?
While most portable air conditioners are designed to vent hot air through a window, some can be used in rooms without windows by using alternative venting options. For example, you can vent the exhaust through a sliding door, a wall vent, or a specially designed venting kit. Always check the product specifications to ensure compatibility with your space.
How often do I need to drain a portable air conditioner?
This depends on the model. Some portable air conditioners have an auto-evaporation feature that minimises the need for draining, while others may need to be emptied every few hours or days, depending on the humidity level in your space.
Can I use a portable air conditioner in a room without a window?
While most portable air conditioners are designed to vent through a window, there are some alternatives, like portable ACs with ventless cooling systems or those that use a venting kit to redirect air out through a sliding door or wall. Always check the product specifications for compatibility with your space.
