The Humble Villager
What other Aucklanders are saying about The Humble Villager.
Customer : This is my special place for brunch on a Sunday. Coffee is superb. Food is fantastic. Staff are pleasant. You can’t ask for anymore. Truly a great experience every time
Customer : Had a lovely experience today here. The place was super busy but the staff were amazingly friendly and efficient. We expected a long wait for our food and drinks but i was surprised that we waited a pretty normal amount of time to be served. I had the vegetarian brekkie which was huge and had a nice selection of grilled veg. We’ll be back and i highly recommend.
Customer : This is a wonderful popular place to have lunch. 2 people to take orders and serve, very clean surroundings with efficient service. Meals were served all together for a group of 4. High chair for our baby was available. Presentation of meals was great. We will all be lunching there again soon. Takeaway options available all so.
Customer : Great coffee, delicious food and smoothie. Friendly staff.
Customer : We stopped in for a quick lunch between appointments based on the reviews. Unfortunately kitchen was closed so we opted for cabinet food.
Staff were really friendly and helpful but unfortunately the food was really unpleasant.
The black doris slice was floury and had a fridge taste so we let them know and received a refund. The 2x paprika chicken wraps were very dry, chicken was hard and overcooked. Wrap had no sauce, and was only filled with lettuce and cheese. We were both very hungry but abandoned them part way through.
It looks like their cooked menu may be nice but we won’t return. $24 wasted and still hungry
Customer : Yummy food in a delightful, spacious and charming space.
The cabinet slices we’re generous and delicious with a good variety. I had a hedgehog slice with walnuts and coconut. I loved how much fresh salad came alongside our lunches (a toastie and halloumi avocado on toast). There were healthy choices like my green smoothie with oat milk.
They welcomed our family and had high chairs for our little one. The service overall was friendly and with attention to detail.
I liked the variety of spaces here – from throne like chairs to comfy couches. Lots of plants everywhere too.
Two thumbs up.
Customer : Very nice place, love the look and lots of furniture that looks like they are upcycled. Food had a decent portion and tasty. If only they didnt use plastic straws, and used reusable straws instead.
Customer : A really nice cafe in a great spot. There are plenty of tables and couches out that back. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable with tasteful decor. The food here is great! Lots of home made treats and savoury dishes. Steak and cheese pies and Wanganui slice are amazing!
The only thing stopping me from giving it five stars is the coffee. I like that is a double shot standard (as it should be) but it’s over extracted or ground too fine as it’s very bitter. Milk is also bubbly as opposed to silky and presentation is not quite on par.
Will be back though. The food fantastic.
