About Non-Governmental Organisations in New Zealand
NGO stands for non-governmental organization. While there is no universally agreed-upon definition of an NGO, typically it is a voluntary group or institution with a social mission that operates independently from the government. NGOs or similar organisations exist in all parts of the world.
Non-governmental organisations (NGOs) receive funding from Te Whatu Ora. Many are not-for-profit and are valuable contacts at the community level.
Health and disability
Health and disability NGOs include a wide range of organisations that provide flexible, responsive, and innovative frontline service delivery.
Diverse services are offered in primary care, mental health, personal health, and disability support services, and include kaupapa services such as Māori and Pacific providers.
