What other Aucklanders are saying about Altar.

Customer : Had been a big supporter of this place but recent visit wasn’t good. Paid $20 for scrambled eggs and avocado on toast. Told me it was 2 scrambled eggs but was the smallest portion I’ve ever had at a cafe. Avocado was $7 for less than 1/4 of an avocado. Tried to give feedback and weren’t interested. A lot of other good places in the village to go

Customer : It looks pretty and tastes good, I would like to emphasize that the waiter is sooo cute

Customer : Lovely restored villa. Bigger inside than it appears from the outside & there is an outdoor seating area as well. Wonderful, friendly service, big menu, spoiled for choice. Meal portions were substantial. Great coffee & my nieces loved the iced fruit teas. Prices fairly standard for brunch – $100 for 4 people. Very enjoyable Saturday brunch – we all agreed we will be repeat customers!

Customer : A lovely clean cafe, excellent staff and service. Great menus and food options. Very well presented food and sure is tasty. Try the cauliflower fritters. Definitely one where we will return.

Customer : Service and food were top notch. Food came out quickly and it was delicious. Staff were very attentive. Would definitely recommend their toasties and their regular size breakfast.

Customer : Do yourself a favour and visit this lovely cafe! Absolutely amazing food and friendly staff. Price is reasonable considering the quality. Highly recommended!

Customer : After a red-eye flight from Perth, my wife and I were hanging out for breakfast and good coffee, and the Altar Cafe fit the bill very well. They offer $10 light breakfast specials which are very good value, plus larger offerings for the more peckish. The cabinet food is all made in house, and looked super tempting! Great coffee hit the caffeine spot square in the eyes, and we left ready to carry on our busy day ahead. Helpful and friendly service, great value for money food, and satisfying coffees = 5/5.

Customer : Came for a late lunch/brunch. Wasn’t too busy so we were seated and ordered it food in support time. The waitress was extremely helpful and was even able to cater for my sister’s dislike of button mushrooms.

I ordered their delicious tumeric latte and my sister got her soy flat white. I recommend this place highly.
