What other Aucklanders are saying about Okumnandi.

Customer : Fantastic food, service and the most beautiful seating in the courtyard.
We had the chili lime prawns, rid eye and lamb loin. Everything was a full-bodied flavorful experience!
Cocktails are also wonderful, not watered down with too much ice.
The courtyard was beautiful to sit in both during the day and night (yes, the hosts were gracious enough to allow for such a long stay.)
We asked for the steak to be reheated due to the cold winds that night and they were kind enough to do so and re-plate and garnish it!
Definitely will return again with family, it’s a suitable restaurant for everyone to dine in!

Customer : Ordered the marinated eggplant, boerewors and milk tart. All of them are delicious! The flavors of the eggplant dish were subtle, just enough to enhance the taste of the eggplant. The boerewors had a fatty and juicy texture which went very well with the tomato-based dip. The milk tart had a generous serving and can definitely be shared by two people who just wants to cleanse their palate. I also had a South African Charles Lager beer, which one of the better-tasting beers I have had. Overall, a great experience!

Customer : Right off the bat, try your best to come here in a group because their menu is designed for sharing.

I ate here with 4 other people and we ordered about half the menu.
They were all decent. But the highlights were the chicken liver, the boerewors, and the milk tart.

Aside from that, service was friendly and attentive. Already planning my second visit.

Customer : Bad experience overall. Charge fine dining prices for a shambles. Ordered a beer, was later told it was out of stock. Ordered cocktails, they arrived half an hour later. Ordered dinner – the lamb loin was overcooked and had no sides, the bunny chow was just meat and no sauce and very bland – nothing fusion or tasty about it. Broccolini tasted like soap. The cocktails were yuck, the signature was like overly sweet lemsip and the other overly coffee flavoured. Waited a long time for takeaway box. Very disappointed and will never come back. Waste of $150.

Customer : Spectacular food, can’t recommend the boerewors and bunny chow enough. First time having South African classics with a twist which were extremely addictive with well-placed spices. The dessert of milktart and panna cotta were a great way to end the meal. Service was good along with a cozy ambience in the courtyard.

With 6 of us on a Sunday, it took 50 minutes for food, with the entree 10 minutes after the main. The “bunny chow” that serves two, is really just a single person portion. The ribeye was bland and chewy, the ribs were dry.

Customer : We stumbled across this restaurant by accident and ended up staying for a 3 course meal. This is a hidden gem, the quality of food is outrageously good for the price! The ceviche was the best I’ve ever had, cannot recommend this highly enough

Customer : It was our first time trying South African cuisine and the food was extremely tasty and delicious with a unique blend of exotic spices. The portions are very generous and the owners are very kind and friendly – we look forward to dining there again!
