What other Aucklanders are saying about Tuitui Museum Bistro & Café.

Customer : Staff and waitress very kind and welcoming.
A very clean and an oasis from the cafe outside which was very noisy.
To be honest, the menu is very limited for adults wanting a light snack, morning tea or brunch.
My suggestion would be to the Cafe add more light brunch type platters and more children friendly healthy options.
Ie a breakfast platter to share – ie scambled eggs, bacon, sausage, garlic bread and you could add a family platter chips, nuggets, toasted standwhiches, crossaints with cheese and ham, mini pizzas with cheese and ham which would be low drama for the kitchen and probably suit a lot of families.
The adult food looked good from what I saw and generous portions, the tacos, T. rex short rib, shared Mediterranean dish looked fresh and yummy.
I do feel they could add more simple things to the menu to extend it out. In the end everything looked too heavy for me for 11 am, I ordered Mango Sorbet and a coffee- turns out they had run out of the sorbet so I had nothing as there was nothing light, small and healthy
Partner had the Short Rib – looked good, big and plenty of food – main commented a “little chewy” and there was bits of tendon or intercostal muscles that came with the short rib I recommend he did not eat. Cold slaw was nice.
I feel the menu needs more items and more of a range of items or smaller little $8-9 sharing plates you could order 2-3 to share for an early lunch on the go. It doesn’t have to to be complicated dishes.
The coffee was great, atmosphere was lovely, kids menu looked reasonable and the people around us with children had high chairs etc and families looked relaxed in the cafe, and little ones were welcome.

Customer : I got the chicken skewers and the chicken was bright pink. When I complained, the manager/server said that because it was chicken thigh, it would be more pink. This is obviously not true, and chicken should never be served pink. I ended up getting a dodgy stomach from it too. Not only this but service was incredibly slow and it took nearly 30 mins for us to get food, even though there was maybe only 5 other people in the whole place.

Customer : Food was lovely, but that’s about it. Looking at the reviews it seems like rude staff is a common complaint here. I certainly had an unpleasant experience with a young lady with blonde hair and heavy eye makeup, she was very rude and inhospitable. If you are unable to serve people due to lack of table space then your staff need to be able to communicate that in a respectful way, and letting people wait in line knowing you can’t serve them is just poor customer service quite frankly. Please take this as constructive criticism honestly I’d rather be understaffed then have someone like that represent my establishment, it’s a real letdown especially when your kitchen staff are doing such a great job.

Customer : Terrible ….
Long long long long wait.
Staff.. of which there were many of them were very slow.. I was told we could only eat in Kai room . No signs to say that. Had to send grandchildren there to eat their very expensive cupcakes alone whilst I waited for my food which was not what I ordered..
I actually ordered a scone got some kind of pizza bread.
You would think if your order came from the cabinet you wouldn’t have to wait 20 mins to have it heated.
Very bad experience and expensive food for what you get.

Customer : We had lunch here today & the first thing that impressed us was the friendly service. We were welcomed like old friends, which was a very pleasant start to our meal. Seats were comfy & the table not too close to others. It took very little time between ordering & arrival of food & it was beautifully presented. Our choices were the chicken pot pie & the duck tacos. The pie was complete comfort food, tasty, hot & nutrious. The duck tacos were absolutely scrumptious. I could eat them every day for the rest of my life! The hoisin had a kick of chilli/spice which balanced beautifully with the duck & salady bits. A very delicious meal experience. Thank you team Tuitui!

Customer : Really enjoyed the late night Tuesday dining experience! Had the limited time short rib to go with the exhibition of the T-Rex fossils. Very busy during the day.

Customer : We were very pleased to stop in at Tuitui for a light lunch. My friend ordered the mussels, a very generous nine in a chilli creme sauce and I had the crispy chicken. She commented how fresh they were! The service was fast and friendly and the cafe has a nice ambience. The bill was very reasonable. The rear of the Museum has undergone an impressive renovation which Tuitui looks across. We didn’t order a coffee
