What other Aucklanders are saying about Wander Café, Bistro and Wine Bar.

Customer : My French colleague recommended this place for good French food and she was right, absolutely delicious!

I had the special – venison with mash and veggies and there was lots of sauce to soak everything plus the venison was cooked well and super soft.

Will definitely be back, lovely atmosphere and great for lunch!

Customer : We came here for breakfast on a Sunday and had a mixed, but mostly positive experience. Their smashed avo on multigrain toast was certainly a stunner, with a huge portion of well seasoned avo, loaded on a thick slice of perfectly toasted multigrain bread. The sides we added (streaky bacon and mushrooms) were also beautifully cooked. The Buddha bowl however was slightly underwhelming – the separate parts were great but as a whole the flavours clashed. We got their pineapple cake as takeaway and to our dismay it had a very overpowering bitterness and dryness distinct of too much baking powder – and hopefully it was just a mishap. Service is inconsistent but only due to fragmented communication between the staff at times (it was quite busy on a Sunday morning!), otherwise they were friendly and attentive.

Customer : 10 of us went for dinner. The service the food the wines were all excellent. Will be going back. Do not get put off by the first look in. Top end restaurant quality good. Actually the food was outstanding! The Sole – perfection. The Chicken cordonbleu – so good!

Customer : The food was delicious, with generous portions. The snapper ceviche was so fresh with a hint of lime and chicken cordon bleu was served with potatoes and mushrooms on top of a smoked yoghurt sauce. My photos don’t do the food justice. Friendly and polite service. Highly recommended.

Customer : We came here for lunch. The service and food was amazing. Highly recommend. The salad and the polenta chips were a great combination. Will definitely come back again. A++++

Customer : It is very nice to sit and enjoy drinks there. We were lucky enough to get just a few minutes before the happy hour was over and get a discount. Yeay!

The interaction with the waiter was not smooth thought: once I’ve started asking about the wines, they instantly told me that it was not part of the deal. I also was not a fan that they greeted as with “gents”. And it turns out that the beer that I ordered was a bottle and not tap – why wouldn’t you write that explicitly?

Customer : Great service and food
Fresh oyster,poached salmon, cheviche ❤
Cream brulee was perfectly cooked
We had petit clos sav as well.
I will definitely come back 🙂

Customer : Delicious food. Booked with 1st Table.

Eggplant flavours were amazing. Omlette had sufficient acidity and texture. Steak was cooked perfectly, but maybe needs a bit more butter basing your add flavour. Clams need to be sanded but the pasta noodles were cooked perfectly and sauces were great. Ceviche is delicious. A must try when at Wynyard.
